Mariners' Polytechnic Colleges


 Mariners' Polytechnic Colleges in Naga City is now the home of the future hospitality managers, licensed customs brokers, well-rounded media practitioners and technically trained mariner. It is a private institution founded by the late Commodore Jaime Chavez-Jimenez, a retired Philippine Navy Officer, Chief Marine Engineer and a topnotch maritime educator. He was a former President of the Philippine Association of Maritime Institutions (PAMI) and chaired the Maritime Industry Reorganization under the Presidential Commission on Government Reorganization (PCGR) in 1987.

Saint Joseph School


From the national flower of the Republic of China comes the sweet-scented MEI-HUA (PLUM BLOSSOM) which serves as the framework of the school seal. Occupying the center is the vast sea with its calm waves symbolizing overseas Chinese Catholic schools throughout the country. Above is the rising sun signifying the continuous rise of the school. The spreading rays surmounting the sun are the reflection of the missionary zeal of the Religious and the dedication of the teachers as followers of Jesus, the Greatest Teacher of all.

Universidad de Sta. Isabel

The Universidad de Sta. Isabel (USI) is a private Catholic Vincentian university owned and run by the Daughters of Charity in Naga City, Philippines. It was established by six Daughters of Charity sisters who arrived in the Bicol region (Philippines) on April 4, 1868 with Bishop of Caceres, Most Rev. Francisco Gainza, O.P., founder of Colegio de Sta. Isabel. A Royal Decree of Queen Isabella II of Spain dated 5 November 1867 granted to the Lord Don Fray Francisco Gainza, Bishop of Nueva Caceres, the creation of a school for girls (escuela de niñas) which will be under the care of the Hijas de Caridad (Daughters of Charity).

The school was opened on April 12, 1868. In Sept. 18, 1875, Colegio de Sta. Isabel became the first normal school for women in the Philippines and Southeast Asia under the name Escuela Normal de Maestras of Colegio de Sta. Isabel.

Colegio de Sta. Isabel achieved its university status in August 2001, and was renamed Universidad de Sta. Isabel.

Ateneo de Naga University

The Ateneo de Naga University is a private and research university run by the Society of Jesus in Naga City in the province of Camarines Sur, Philippines. It is also known by the acronym AdNU. It was established in 1940, and is the fourth Ateneo opened in the Philippines by the Jesuits. Typical of universities in the Philippines, AdNU has primary, secondary and tertiary levels which are coeducational. However, it was only in school year 2014-15 that the Ateneo de Naga opened its grade school.

University of Nueva Caceres

The University of Nueva Caceres (UNC), the first university in southern Luzon (outside Metro Manila), is a private non-sectarian University run by a corporation in Naga City in Bicol Region, Philippines. Founded in 1948, it offers pre-school, elementary, high school, undergraduate, and graduate programs.

The University  is dedicated to the pursuit of Truth, Wisdom and Knowledge for the service of God, Country and Humanity. Founded by Dr. Jaime Hernandez in 1948, it has grown to become one of the leading institutions of higher learning in the country. The campus is centrally located in the City of Naga, Camarines Sur, Philippines. The University has one of the biggest student populations in the Bicol region and offers courses from Kinder to Graduate levels. All course offerings are recognized by the government and the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Education and Commerce are accredited by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACU-COA). Its College of Engineering and Architecture is now one of the few regional centers for technological education in the Philippines.

A visit to Naga city is never complete if you don’t savor the best Bicolano dishes and delicacies. As street food and available in restaurants, these delicacies are distinctly what Naguenos eat either as a dish or as something to eat during snack time.

Bob Marlin

Bob Marlin is a must-visit restaurant in Naga City. Aside from the cozy milieu of the resto, your trip to Naga City wouldn’t be complete without trying out their famous crispy pata. They said, go visit Bob Marlin for a reggae-rific good times, with its casual tropical dining experience at its best.

Basilica Kaffee Haus & Restaurant

We discovered this coffeehouse & restaurant by accident. When the rained stopped, we looked for a restroom, and as we searched, we found Kaffee Haus & Restaurant. We reckoned the place would have a restroom. When we went inside, we expected to see a simple church canteen, but we were surprised to see such pleasant looking and relaxing ambience. It exuded a romantic mood, too, with its post Valentine decors.

Jollibee

Everywhere we go, if there is a Jollibee outlet, we usually eat breakfast or fast snack there. Service is fast; ambience is good; service crew are helpful and always smiling; more importantly, food is clean and great for the price.

Aside from the familiar tasty food, we patronize Jollibee because we feel safer asking their service crew for directions on how to go to certain places, how much is the regular transportation cost, and other concerns in a new place. 

MAKIYAKI

Makiyaki, despite its usual minimalist but uniquely beautiful Japanese interior/theme, caught our attention. The foods in their menu chart are quite pricey, but they also have value meals at more affordable prices.

GEEWAN

I read some positive reviews about Geewan so we looked for it. It is actually a fastfood type of restaurant offering local dishes. It has nice, quiet ambience unlike other fastfood outlets; aircon is cool; food showcase is clean; service is fast (as expected); staff and guard are courteous. 

TREVI CAFE

Good place for cofffe and short business meetings. nagaland hotel free breakfast are served here, servings are too small for big breakfast eaters like me. 

OYSTER RESTAURANT

Good ambience restaurant, not expensive, many food too choose, food taste average. this restaurant is located in Naga Regent Hotel.

I've chosen Naga City and re-introduce it to the world. A first-class, autonomous (independent) city in Camarines Sur, the rich history of the city bounced back to Hispanic times in the late 15th century where the second fleet of Spanish armada braved the soil of cimmarones(tattoed-natives of the province) and successfully converted them to Christian faith. Along with this development, Spaniards were able to incorporate their culture and industry to the locals.

Different Churces in Naga City

• NAGA METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL

The largest church in Bicol, it is considered to be the mother of all cathedrals in the region.  With  its official name “Naga Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist”, this cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in the Philippines. The original structure was built near the Naga River (the location of Naga’s bustling public market) but was destroyed by a strong earthquake in the 18th century. Every September, during the Peñafrancia Fiesta, the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia is transferred to the Cathedral from the Basilica Minore.

• SAN FRANCISCO CHURCH

Constructed in the 17th century, this church’s infirmary and basement served as interrogation and torture halls of Filipinos who were arrested during the peak of the Filipino-Spanish War in 1986.  For the colonial masters, the Church was used as a fortress refuging 500 people during the attacks of Filipino revolutionaries Elias Angeles and Felix Plazo in September 1986.  Accepting defeat to the Angeles-Plazo forces, it is in this church’s citadels that then Civil Governor of Camarines drafted his letter of surrender consequently offering the Province of Ambos Camarines to the Filipinos.

• NUESTRA SENORA DE PENA DE FRANCIA CHURCH (PEÑAFRANCIA SHRINE)

It is the original home of the Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia was made of local materials in 1710 after Fr. Miguel Robles de Covarrubias brought the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia to Bicol. it is located in Peñafrancia Avenue, Naga City.

• BASILICA MINORE

It is the home of the Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia, dearly called by her devotees as “Ina”(Mother). it was constructed on 1981 and was completed in 1985. Millions of devotees around the world visit this church every September to celebrate their faith and devotion to the blessed Virgin.
